Bon Voyage keeps blowing up my rover

Main Post:

This mod is great — it actually makes rovers practical — but half the time my rover blows up upon loading.

I think it may be related to height offset. Right now I have that set at 0, but honestly the setting doesn’t seem to change anything. The height almost seems random. Sometimes it drops from hundreds of meters upon loading!

Rotation is tricky too… for my rover, using a mk2 lander pod, “up” seems to be the correct setting for orientation. But it causes a lot of explosions for some reason! Honestly, disabling rotation has worked better. I just have to make shorter journeys so the orientation isn’t too far off.

This all feels buggy though. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how the mod do?

I had the same problem, mostly on slopes. Eventually, I solved it by playing with the offset and Alt+F12. I am not quite sure what I did but I think I haked gravity, indestructible joints, and no crash damage. With gravity off the rover flew away, then turn on gravity just a little bit (5-10%) and let it settle down. Then return everything to normal.

I'm breaking in a new n20 as an egg pan. These Dartos are amazing, and it shipped from Argentina to my house in the whillywhacks of eastern Canada inside of a week!

Voyage vs. other ereaders: a screen comparison at 0 brightness

Main Post: Voyage vs. other ereaders: a screen comparison at 0 brightness

Top Comment:

A quick comparison between some of my existing eink devices vs. the newly arrived Kindle Voyage. Apologies in advance for shaky hand/weird iPhone fish-lens effect that I have no idea how to turn off (I absolutely hate it).

Voyage (mostly?) wins in comparison, at least in terms of brightness (when all devices are at 0 brightness in the same lighting condition):

- Voyage and Oasis (10th gen) seem mostly on par, Oasis is perhaps slightly darker but it's not very obvious.

- Voyage is brighter than Hisense A9, Kobo Libra 2, and reMarkable 2, sometimes significantly so (esp. vs. the A9, see photos).

- (Not pictured but compared IRL): Voyage is slightly brighter/clearer than my wife's PW5 (technically mine but I gave it to her since I hated it), and significantly brighter than her Kindle Scribe.

Now I see why the Voyage has such a cult following... the screen itself, with no lighting, is brighter and warmer than all the more recent releases on Carta 1200, etc. (no idea what the Oasis uses - I think all the others, except the rM2, may be Carta 1200? Don't remember anymore).

That said, I did notice that the Voyage has a lot more ghosting than all the other devices (I generally keep "refresh on every page" disabled), and, of course, the PW5 has the fastest refresh of them all with its oh-so-fancy animation.

I guess that's the trade-off you make with the newer eink screens: I've always heard that you get faster refreshes but trade-off brightness/whiteness, and now I've just confirmed in person.

Edit: was just reading on the Voyage while eating dinner, damn, the screen was so bright and warm compared to what I’m used to, I thought I had the brightness turned up - nope, it was still at 0. Amazing.

Edit 2: just found out that the Voyage does not fully turn off the light at 0 brightness (though it can be fully turned off in Koreader), so the comparison is a little unfair. That said, the light is very low at 0 brightness, and it doesn't take way the warmth of the screen on its own.
